Summer Ball headliners face backlash

The release of the line up for the University of Kent Summer Ball has been faced with a disapproving backlash from students.

Pop band Mcfly are set to headline the event, with Chase and Status and Tinchy Stryder in support. The news has not been taken lightly.
Within hours of the release, a facebook page against Mcfly was created, and had over 1000 followers within the day. Now there are over 2000, a large number highlighting the gravity of the bad feeling towards the announcement.

Comments on the page ranged from "how can they expect anyone to want to go to this?" to "I'd rather have Michael Winner striptease. And I hate Michael Winner."

Adam Thompson, a History Student at the university expressed his disappointment at the announcement:

"I'm gutted to be honest. other universities have got some really good acts. The supports are good, Chase and Status have played at the [university nightclub] Venue and were brilliant.

"I probably won't go to be honest, it's a lot of money for an act i'm not interested in."

A special guest, initially to play alongside Mcfly have yet to be announced, but it could be that the guest may in fact replace the original headliners, something student Alex Moore welcomes:

"I would be more interested in going with a different headliner, that's for sure."
